This week we're in for another dramatic, argument-filled episode starring the Walker family. Of course, like every other week by the end of the episode, or at the start of the next, the whole family comes together and all is well again. If only every family was able to just let things go so easily. Scotty gets home late from work and tries sneaking into the room so not to wake up Kevin, but he ends up knocking stuff over and Kevin wakes up anyway. Since Kevin is awake Scotty fills him in on some amazing news. But first, Kevin has a gift for him, a framed magazine cover of five upcoming chefs which includes Scotty. And, Scotty's good news fits perfectly with the gift, he's been promoted to the head chef. Kitty is still depressed about the adoption falling through. She has insomnia so she spends all night watching even more depressing stories on television and donating to every cause. The next morning, Nora is off to a peppy start. She's excited because she has picked out a few houses that she's considering buying at an auction. She shares the picks with Saul and Justin and says this will be her first time buying a house because William surprised her with the current house. Saul has to get going though, he has a busy day waiting for the A/C repairman. After he leaves Justin tells Nora he feels bad for Saul because all he does is mope around and has nothing to do. Nora reminds Justin he doesn't have much going on in his life either. Robert comes to talk to Kevin about Kitty being depressed, he's not aware that Kevin has Sarah on speakerphone and overhears everything. She offers her two cents and they go back and forth for a while, then the convo quickly turns into a six-way phone call involving pretty much the entire family. They are all plotting how to cheer Kitty up. The plan they devise is Sarah will ask Kitty for her opinion on the business plan she is working on, this will supposedly distract Kitty from her problems and cheer her up. I stress supposedly. Kevin visits Scotty at his restaurant and talks to the female bartender who confesses that she would be in love with Scotty if only he were straight. Kevin is downing some drinks, depressed because he finally woke up to the fact that he's not making the big bucks anymore. Sarah goes to Kitty with a delicious looking (sorry I'm hungry!) ice cream treat and asks her for help with the business plan. Kitty says she can probably make time to help. She's really, really busy… learning Spanish by watching some over-dramatic Spanish soap opera. Justin goes to his AA meeting, but instead of him spilling his soul to everyone, this week we hear from some middle-aged guy named Paul, who is gay and just happens to be single. A lightbulb goes off in Justin's head, maybe he could setup Paul and Saul? I wonder if it's a conicidence that the names rhyme. Justin approaches Paul with the offer of dinner, of course Paul thinks Justin is hitting on him right away but then Justin mentions it's for Uncle Saul. Paul accepts the invite. As if the Walker dinners are always dramatic enough, this is sure to add an extra twist. By the way, this isn't just any dinner… it's a dinner to celebrate Scotty's promotion, because apparently the Walker family must throw a party for every occassion, big or small. Kevin finds out that Nora is going house hunting and insists on going with her to the auction. She definitely wanted to do this on her own but Kevin pushes his way into it. Justin goes to Rebecca and tells her about setting up Saul with Paul. Rebecca thinks the idea is horrible. Holly overhears and tells Justin she thinks it's wonderful. After Justin leaves Holly admits to Rebecca that it's definitely a horrible idea but she's just sucking upto Justin since he's dating Rebecca. Kitty comes to talk to Sarah about the business plan. She has highlighted pretty much the entire thing and starts going line by line with everything wrong with it. Sarah is just getting more and more frustrated, you can tell not by her voice but by how hard she's chopping the food. Luckily, Tommy arrives with a box of wine for the dinner party. And, right behind Tommy, guess who else arrives? Paul! Yes, he's just a few hours early. Apparently, he had his license revoked after so much DUI's and now he has to rely on public transportation. Whew… this should be one of the best Walker dinners yet. Things aren't going so well at the auction either. Everytime Nora goes to bid on a house Kevin stops her and starts picking out any tiny, little negatives. She ends up losing out on all the houses that she really wanted. She and Kevin are about to leave until Kevin spots a The dinner party is just getting started, but Sarah, Kitty, and Tommy have already had enough with Paul. He has been giving them his entire life story since he showed up. Fortunately for them, Rebecca, Justin and Scotty arrive first and can help take Paul off their hands. Sarah lets Justin know what a mess Paul is. Tommy suggests Paul tell Scotty a story about his first boyfriend, Scotty is just thrilled to say the least. Kitty, meanwhile, keeps pushing her points about the business plan and Sarah is just about to her tipping point. Nora and Kevin arrive to the party from the auction. Nora is still fuming about Kevin buying a Saul arrives and immediately is met by Paul who talks his ear off for a good 20 minutes or more. When Saul finally breaks away from Paul he tells Justin they need to talk. But, before Saul can lay into Justin, it's time for dinner. Everyone gives a toast to Scotty, then Kevin surprises Scotty with the After dinner Sarah and Kitty finally get things out in the open between them as well. Sarah confesses that the only reason she asked Kitty for her opinion on the business plan was to distract her from the 'thing.' Kitty tells her that she can say, she scared away the birth mother and lost them a baby. Sarah says they just wanted to cheer her up. Kitty says she doesn't need to be cheered up, she just needs to deal with it day by day. She tells Sarah what she needs most is just a hug, not to be distracted. So, Sarah and Kitty hug and all is well again between these two. Now, Justin is onto patching things up with Saul. Saul had to take Paul home, Saul admits to Justin that Paul wasn't that bad, though he says he definitely won't be calling him anytime soon. Justin says he'll cross "matchmaker" off potential career field, Saul says that's a good idea. Saul then tells Justin a little secret, he's been seeing someone. He doesn't want anyone else to know though because he doesn't want it to be another Walker family drama. Kevin goes home hoping topatch things up with Scotty as well but before that can happen the two have a big argument. Scotty says all the bills are in Kevin's name and he wonders if Kevin does this, and for instance buys a The next day, Kevin asks Nora to come to his new Kitty is done with infomercials and instead watching the news now, which has a report on about President-Elect Obama (yay!). Roberts asks her if this means she's doing better now, she promises him she'll no longer shut him out and fills him in on what a mess the dinner last night turned out to be. Kevin has another surprise for Scotty and takes him for a blind-folded joyride. They end up at a bank and Kevin says they're there to open a joint bank account. The episode ends with them kissing. The next episode won't air for two weeks, thanks to the American Music Awards next Sunday. But, in two weeks, Robert and Kitty may finally be getting a baby afterall, and it's Trish's baby. She seems to be reconsidering her decision. |
